Squash4Friends
This fund provides produce at no cost to recipients in a compassionate, non-discriminatory and environmentally conscious manner. With local families struggling to put food on the table, the High Desert’s only volunteer-run vegetable farm helps people in need. The group harvests food to donate to charities and families in need.
Volunteers have the benefit of picking their own food from a separate plot planted with squash, cantaloupe, tomatoes, watermelon and garlic. Squash4Friends welcomes small groups willing to commit to harvesting vegetables once a week during the growing season.
Groups wanting to volunteer and local churches and food banks in need of produce can follow on Facebook or email Jim Hill at squash4friends@yahoo.com. To see more about Squash4Friends, please go to www.squash4friends.net.
