Dreamers, Visionaries & Leaders

We link all of the following projects to promote community inclusiveness and cultural enrichment:

– Annual Black History Month publication currently distributed through the Daily Press and used in 200 High Desert Schools.

– Honoring local African Americans as “Dreamers, Visionaries and Leaders” for their professional accomplishments and community service.

-Produce annually the “Know Your History” display which is free and open to the High Desert community at the Jerry Lewis County Government Center, Hesperia, CA.

– Produce annually in participation with the El Dorado Broadcasters (Y102/KAT/TALK 960) the “Know Your History” radio campaign. A month ad campaign (highlighting Black History Facts and information).

-We contribute to two local programs, Tps, Creative Expressions, Inc. (Cultural Arts Foundation) and Ready 4 Reading Literacy program.

-DVL has the following scholarships available: DVL Honoree Scholarship,  Dr. Gerald Brown Legacy Scholarship, Leona Griner Legacy Scholarship, Bishop Nathaniel Ruffin Legacy Scholarship, Anna Sugi Legacy Scholarship.  A  Memorial Grant in the name of the late Jackie Wilson is also available.  Funds to be administered through the High Desert Community Foundation.
